The project aims to support the development of initiative-taking and leadership skills among young women in the Tavush and Lori regions of Armenia. Within the framework of the program, participants had the opportunity to strengthen their leadership and communication skills, as well as expand their knowledge of human rights, local self-government, and gender equality. In addition, they took part in the planning and implementation of community initiatives, which enabled them to become more actively involved in community development processes.

The project was implemented in four phases. The first two-day training was held in the Noyemberyan community of Tavush Region and brought together 17 participants. The second two-day training took place in the Tashir community of Lori Region, with the participation of 20 young people. During these trainings, participants learned about leadership, local self-government, and the importance of participation in community life, discussed various examples of community initiatives, mapped local challenges, and worked on developing community-based solutions.

During the third phase of the project, participants attended a webinar with the Head of the Vanadzor branch of the Human Rights Defender’s Office, who presented the institution’s history, the Defender’s mandate and functions, and the procedures for applying to the Human Rights Defender. In the fourth phase, young people from the Noyemberyan community organized a community initiative, during which trained participants presented topics related to human rights and community initiatives to other young people in their community.
